Alain Lalonde is a founder and principal of Veritec Consulting Inc, based in Ontario, Canada. He is a recognized leader in the field of water loss management in North America, with over 13 years of practical experience. He is currently a member of the IWA Water Loss Task Force sub-committee on Pressure Management and has presented on water loss strategies at several American Water Works Association (AWWA) Conferences.

As project director, he lead the Veritec team that designed and implemented an eight-year leakage reduction program – the largest in Canada – for York Region that resulted in savings in excess of 8 million liters of water per day – exceeding the project target by 135%. Alain has also designed and implemented the first advanced pressure management areas using flow modulation currently in use in North America as part of the York Region Leakage Reduction program.  He is also currently working with several large municipalities, including Toronto, Peel Region, Halton Region and Niagara Region, implementing the Leaks software concepts and water loss reductions strategies. He is also an active member of the AWWA Water Loss Control Committee and was part of the sub-committee that designed and prepared the official AWWA WLCC Water Balance freeware software.  He is also as active member of the local Ontario Water Works Associations where he serves on the water distribution committee.
