ILMSS Ltd was set up in 2003 by Allan and Janet Lambert. Allan is the originator, in 1994, of the BABE (Bursts and Background Estimates) concept of components of leakage, and the primary parameters that influence leakage.

When he chaired the first IWA Task Force on Water Losses (1996-2000), Allan developed the formula for Unavoidable Real Losses, the Infrastructure Leakage Index (ILI), and the IWA standard Water Balance. He has 20 years experience specialising in leakage management and pressure management research, modelling, software development, training and practical applications to numerous projects in some 25 countries. He is the author of numerous international technical papers, has contributed original material to several books on these topics, and is currently researching pressure:burst frequency and asset life relationships. As a Member of the IWA Water Losses Specialist Group Management Committee, he is recognised as one of the world's foremost experts on Leakage and Pressure Management and is a Fellow of the IWA.

As the worldwide use of the LEAKS Suite software programs and practical concepts created by Allan continues to increase, the distribution of LEAKS Suite software is now being managed by Janet Lambert, Managing Director of ILMSS Ltd.

Allan now manages Water Loss Research and Analysis Ltd, which enables him to specialise in research, training and consultancy. He continues to develop, support and update ILMSS Ltd software on an 'as required' basis to ensure that it contains the most advanced proven IWA methodologies.
